A portion of patients with hypothyroidism report experiencing residual symptoms that impact their quality of life while on standard-of-care levothyroxine monotherapy. This webinar will explore optimizing standard-of-care treatment and discuss ongoing management of hypothyroidism to enhance quality of life for patients.

Learning Objectives :

1. Identify when it is appropriate to start therapy for hypothyroidism.
2. Optimize standard-of-care treatment for hypothyroidism.
3. Understand that patients optimized on standard of care may still experience hypothyroid symptoms.
4. Compare standard of care and alternative replacement strategies (T4 +/- T3) for patients who experience residual symptoms.

Biography:

MBChB, FRCPC, Cert. Endo, is a community endocrinologist in London, ON. He completed his endocrinology training at Western University. He served as the chief endocrine resident and was the recipient of the Dr. Merrill Edmonds Outstanding Resident Award. He completed a one year clinical thyroid fellowship at the University of Toronto.
He has a strong clinical and personal interest in thyroid disease, both benign and malignant.

Biography:

I am an Associate Professor of Endocrinology and the Residency Program Director at Western University. I practice Endocrinology at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London. I am chair of Thyroid Cancer London and Endocrinology Thyroid Cancer Lead at St. Joseph’s Hospital (London).
