CSEM Endocrine Pearls Series “Unmasking Cushing’s in Diabetes: New Evidence and What It Means for Practice”
June 26 @ 12:15 pm - 12:45 pm
Section 1 Webinar
Friday, 26 June 2026
This 30‑minute lunchtime webinar will explore emerging evidence on hypercortisolism in patients with difficult‑to‑control diabetes, with a focus on implications for screening, diagnosis, and management. Prompted by recent large‑scale “CATALYST” study findings suggesting a potentially higher-than-expected prevalence of hypercortisolism in this population, the session will critically review the underlying evidence, including diagnostic criteria, limitations, and ongoing controversy.
Learning Objectives
- Appraise emerging evidence on the prevalence of hypercortisolism in patients with difficult‑to‑control diabetes (CanMEDS: Scholar)
- Apply appropriate diagnostic approaches to differentiate true hypercortisolism from pseudo‑Cushing states in complex patients (CanMEDS: Medical Expert)
- Discuss potential management pathways and interdisciplinary considerations for patients identified with hypercortisolism (CanMEDS: Collaborator,Health Advocate)
