Research Awards
CSEM Young Investigator Award
A $20,000 grant in support of the awardee’s research program and a certificate are awarded to an individual who has been a faculty member at a Canadian university for between 5 and 10 years (not necessarily continuous—this must be explained) and has demonstrated excellence as an independent investigator in endocrinology-related science. Must be a CSEM member in good standing.

Application procedure:
Complete the 2025 online submission form and submit supporting documents:
- Nomination letter explaining how the candidate has demonstrated excellence as an investigator and the importance of the research program the candidate is pursuing
- CV of nominee (complete CV or CIHR-type CV)
Deadline: April 30, 2025. No late applications will be considered.
Reporting Requirements:
- The awardee is required to submit a report to CSEM within 2 years of receiving the award.
- CSEM must be acknowledged in all scientific publications and communications which are the result of this award.
- The awardee may be asked to present at the Diabetes Canada/CSEM Annual Professional Conference.

Dr. Fernand Labrie Fellowship Research Grant
This grant will be awarded to an MD research fellow who is pursuing additional research training in the field of Endocrinology and Metabolism. This is a one-time scholarship award for one fellow in the maximum amount of $30,000. Note that this award is intended as a salary award and can be combined with other sources to constitute a salary. Applicant be a CSEM member in good standing.

2024 Dr. Fernand Labrie Fellowship Research Grant winners
Eligibility criteria:
- the applicant must:
- be an MD research fellow in Endocrinology & Metabolism who, at the time of receiving the award, has completed two years of a Royal College–recognized Pediatric or Adult Endocrinology and Metabolism training program
- be pursuing additional research training in the field of Endocrinology and Metabolism
- priority will be given to Canadians or permanent residents
- the research project must be done in an accredited Canadian institution (all Canadian institutes/hospitals with University-accredited programs are eligible)
Application procedure: Complete the 2025 online application form and submit supporting documents to the CSEM:
- letter of intention from fellow, including career plans
- CVs of fellow AND supervisor (complete CV or CIHR-type CV)
- one-page summary of proposed research project
- letter of recommendation by someone other than the direct supervisor (previous research mentor or training director)
Deadline: April 30, 2025. No late applications will be considered.
Notification of winner: The winner will be informed by the end of June 2025.
Reporting requirements:
- summary of the project that was/is performed and location of the fellowship
- outcome of the project: completion, meaningful results, publications, and communications related to project
- all scientific publications and communications during the period of the fellowship (one or 2 years), related or not to project
