Thyroid Artery Embolization is a new type of treatment for patients with thyroid goitres with compressive symptoms and multi-nodular goitres that is poised to start in Canada. This non-invasive procedure is performed by an Interventional Radiologist (IR) to reduce the flow of blood to the thyroid goitre and shrink the goitre. The treatment leaves the patient euthyroid (patient does not become hypothyroid) and also avoids risks associated with thyroid surgery.
