CSEM Awards

CSEM recognizes the contributions of members who significantly impact excellence in the field of endocrinology and metabolism.

Dr. Robert Volpé Distinguished Service Award

A $2,500 honorarium and a plaque are awarded to a senior member of CSEM (Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism) who has made a significant contribution to the Society and the discipline of Endocrinology in at least two of the following areas: research, education, or clinical service. Must be a CSEM member in good standing.

  • A nomination letter explaining how the candidate has made a significant contribution to CSEM and the field of endocrinology through research, education, or clinical service
  • CV of nominee (complete CV or CIHR-type CV)

Dr. Harvey Guyda Educator of the Year Award

A $1,000 honorarium and a plaque are awarded to an individual who has demonstrated excellence in national education programs and/or teaching in the discipline of Endocrinology and Metabolism. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a history of dedication to education through excellence in teaching, leadership, scholarship, and innovation in education as it pertains to Endocrinology and Metabolism.

2024 Dr. Harvey Guyda Educator of the Year Award winner

Contributions to creating, designing, editing educational resources/events including textbooks, video, social media, podcasts, websites, workshops, conferences, and other creative professional activities relating to Endocrinology and Metabolism will be considered. Must be a CSEM member in good standing.


Application procedure:

Complete the 2025 online submission form and submit supporting documents:

  • A nomination letter which:
    • describes the nominee’s contributions to teaching and education with emphasis on those with impact at the national or international level
    • describes the nominee’s innovations and scholarly work in teaching and education including the impact or outcome (examples: publication, adoption, strong evaluations, participant commitment to change, and other alternative metrics)
    • highlights the nominee’s awards/ educational roles/ presentations and other forms of recognition of excellence in teaching and education
  • CV of nominee (complete CV or CIHR-type CV)
